VETERINARY POLICE

The Police Force Animal Branch is under ‘B’ Department (Operations) in the Nigeria Police Force. The branch is headed by the Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG FAB) who is charge with the responsibility of general supervision as well as overseeing the day to day running of the veterinary section, Dog section and mounted Troop.

The Force Animal Branch is the rallying point of all Force Animals activities in the Nigeria Police Force and is responsible for veterinary services and health care management program of the Force Animals Nationwide.

Globally, it is already a well-established fact that professionally trained Dogs and Horses are indispensable in security operations for optimum perimeter control, rescue operations and crime prevention and detection, as there is no invented gadget/system that can match the speed, accuracy and efficiency of sniffer Dogs and trained horses.
