KOICA-Facilitated Programme Strengthens Capacity

In a major step toward enhancing Nigeria's digital investigative capabilities, a delegation of officers from the Nigeria Police Force has arrived in Seoul, South Korea, for a capacity-building course on Digital Cybercrime Investigation. The specialized training is organized and fully sponsored by the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA).

This international programme brings together Nigerian law enforcement professionals and South Korean cybersecurity experts with the shared goal of strengthening Nigeria's capacity to combat cyber-enabled crimes and safeguard its digital infrastructure. It forms part of KOICA's development cooperation strategy, which promotes institutional growth through knowledge exchange, technical training, and strategic partnerships.

The training aligns with the reform-driven vision of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, who has prioritized digital transformation, intelligence-led policing, and continuous professional development as pillars of his agenda to build a smarter and safer Nigeria.

Over the course of the programme, participants will be exposed to core areas of modern cybercrime investigation, including cybercrime scene management, digital forensics and analysis, tracing crimes involving cryptocurrency and blockchain technologies, as well as methods for cross-border digital evidence gathering and fostering international cooperation in addressing cyber threats.

Leading the Nigerian delegation, DCP Bababola Johnson commended KOICA for its consistent support and reaffirmed the Nigeria Police Force's commitment to integrating the knowledge gained into operational strategies back home. He emphasized that the training will significantly enhance the Force's ability to prevent and investigate cybercrimes more effectively.

The Nigeria Police Force remains dedicated to embracing technology, fostering global partnerships, and delivering world-class policing services to the Nigerian public.
